Standing Room Only

 Carnegie’s pre-release of the findings of Educating Physicians: A Call for Reform (Jossey-Bass 2010) at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) annual meeting in Boston this week drew a standing room only crowd of 700 or more.

Breakthrough Learning in a Digital Age

Carnegie President Anthony Bryk and Scholar-in Residence and Learning Matters CEO John Merrow are participating this week in a conference at Google headquarters sponsored by Sesame Workshop with Google and Common Sense Media. “Breakthrough Learning in a Digital Age” is a conference of 200 thought leaders who will come together to discuss solutions to the literacy and dropout problems facing the nation.

Data Visualization and Student Learning

On Sept. 17 and 18th, Carnegie continued its role as a convener, supported by a grant from the MacArthur Foundation, to bring together onsite and virtually (via videoconferencing technology) researchers and practitioners from across the country to begin discussions on using tools to gather and disseminate information on student learning and outcomes generated by interactive learning environments.
