Meeting to be held at One Dupont March 4th
Building on and complementing its most recent national study of nursing education and resulting book, Educating Nurses: A Call for Radical Transformation, as well as its commitment to its mission of improving educational practice, The Carnegie Foundation of the Advancement of Teaching is holding a meeting on March 4 to focus on the overall effectiveness of nursing education.
Carnegie will bring together representatives from all levels of higher education institutions, including community colleges and universities as well as hospital diploma programs, to focus on what nursing programs need to do to strengthen both nursing education and career pathways.
The meeting agenda will include discussion of the study’s recommendation to expand enrollments of associate degree registered nurses in the nation’s existing associate degree to master’s degree programs, and to create more of these pathways, which has generated strong agreement in the nursing education sector. Discussions will also include examination of practice and pedagogy as well as how to better integrate classroom and clinical teaching.
