Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) K-12
The CASTL Program for K-12 Teachers and Teacher Educators supported the development of ideas, expertise and relationships that contribute to improved K-12 education and teacher preparation and development. Working with teachers and teacher educators who are skilled at teaching diverse groups of students and well-connected to national networks in which to share their work, CASTL K-12/TE built a social and intellectual infrastructure to support a scholarly examination of teaching and learning.

Goldman-Carnegie Quest Program
The Goldman-Carnegie Quest Program was a three-stage effort that aimed to explore and design “signature pedagogies” for the education of teachers, which place vivid representations of both teaching and learning-to-teach at its center. This initiative was supported with matching funding from the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund.

Professional Development Applied in the Classroom - Elementary Literacy
In an effort to strengthen literacy teaching in K-5 classrooms, the Noyce Foundation and the Carnegie Foundation collaborated to create a professional development website for elementary grade teachers. Based upon Noyce's Every Child a Reader and Writer initiative, the multimedia website offers resource materials, examples of student work, and video clips of the participating teachers working with their linguistically diverse classrooms.

Higher Education Faculty Collaboration in Preparing Teachers - Elementary Mathematics
The Carnegie Foundation and the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) developed a research project that examined the mathematical preparation of elementary school teachers at four universities: University of Michigan, University of Nebraska–Lincoln, Sonoma State University and Mills College. Through the study of collaborations between mathematicians and education school faculty members who are teaching courses in mathematics, this project sought to document creative new ideas for teaching mathematics and for teaching teachers at the K-5 level.
Stanford University participated by offering a pilot course taught by Carnegie Senior Scholar Liping Ma and Stanford University Professor of Mathematics R. James Milgram closely related to the project's focus.
