About the Carnegie Foundation
Founded by Andrew Carnegie in 1905 and chartered in 1906 by an act of Congress, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching is an independent policy and research center engaged in a wide range of activities and research to support and advance the work of educators at all levels. Following the appointment in 2008 of Anthony Bryk as the Foundation’s 9th president, the Foundation has undergone a significant transition in its program of work. The new focus seeks to pioneer a radically different model of educational research and development capable of advancing improvements in student learning at scale.
The Working Environment
The Foundation offers a collaborative, community-building atmosphere grounded in an environment of mutual respect. The facility itself is located in Stanford, California in a quiet pastoral setting near a hiking trail. Amenities include a communal kitchen (coffee, tea, and drinks provided), outdoor eating/gathering areas, and free parking.
