Keynotes
The following two keynote presentations were given at the 2021 Carnegie Summit.
The opening keynote at the 2021 Carnegie Summit captures a conversation about, among other topics, the impact of the pandemic, which has “helped us see a future in which parents, students, and community members are active thinking-and-doing agents rather than passive recipients of someone else’s knowledge.” Featuring Carnegie Foundation President Timothy Knowles; Former President and Senior Fellow, Anthony S. Bryk; and CEO of Baltimore City Public Schools and Carnegie Board Member, Sonja Santelises.
Robert H. Hughes, K–12 Education Director at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, says in his keynote presentation, “Some moments matter simply more than most.” Hear what Hughes says this means for students and educators, including in his discussion with members of the improvement community at Castlemont High School.
