The future of learning in a post-Carnegie-unit era brings the promise of the next great era of innovation in education. To ensure the waves of change are aimed at social justice aspirations, local research and development infrastructures will need to be democratized. Researchers, practitioners, policy makers, and community stakeholders should be brought together as co-equal partners in the production and use of evidence for improvement. In this session, participants will hear from pioneering experts and envision the active ingredients of a democratizing R&D infrastructure and what it will take to make it work in improvement communities around the country.
