In this session, we will discuss the potential for and challenges inherent in using practical measurement to advance equity and justice in mathematics teaching and learning. First, we will provide an overview of various facets of working toward equity and justice in mathematics classrooms, highlight corresponding practical measures, and indicate areas that are currently not assessed. Second, we will share examples of how our teams have intentionally attended to equity in the design and use of practical measurement in school- and district-level efforts, and will highlight both the benefits and challenges.
